Workstreams in Mechanical Engineering

text

Yes. Projects are put above water-line when ALL necessary resources are available/committed. If some people are available, the team is free to begin work, as long as there is no impact to above-water-line projects.

There are several ways that work comes into the ME group. Note that email is NOT one of the legitimate methods. Sanctioned methods are:

  • PPL projects
  • EPL projects (which are sub-sets of PPL)
  • PR’s
  • NSR’s
  • Type-3 Escalations (which are converted to PPL projects)

Note: engineers are expected to use judgement when rejecting work-activities based on illegitimate work-streams. If there is any confusion/conflict, please consult with your manager.

Answer

Design Reviews

text

Normally, engineering design reviews occur on Wednesday’s between the hours of 8am-12pm. When the calendar is completely full and a slot is available during the afternoon program-review window, the engineer may schedule for the afternoon instead. The following steps are required:

  1. Consult with the Program Management director (Mark Christensen) to secure permission to use an afternoon review slot.
  2. Add your review to the Design Review calendar, just like you would for a morning review.
  3. Add a “placeholder” to the Program Review calendar, to ensure nobody attempts to double-book for that slot.
